A letter to care home directors and operators.

German care homes are short of staff. What goes first is rarely the medication round. It is the conversation. For many residents, days pass in which nobody asks how they are.

Anu does not fill that gap in place of your team, but in the hours when nobody can be there.

Change often announces itself quietly, long before anyone notices. Together with care homes we are looking into whether reliable signs can be read from this, early enough to ask.

This is research, not a finished product. Anu is not a medical device, makes no diagnoses and replaces no medical judgement.

What care homes ask us.

Anu at a glance

Anu is a device in the room that listens and speaks, for older people in residential care in Germany. The aim is to reduce loneliness, notice changes in health earlier and relieve care staff. Anu is developed together with care homes, processes data exclusively within the EU and is research, not a medical device. Anu is the first product of semperum, founded by Paul Goth.

Does Anu replace carers or visits?

No. Anu does not replace a carer or a visit. We built Anu for the hours in between: evenings, weekends, nights.

Is Anu a medical device?

No. Anu is research, not a finished product. Anu is not a medical device, makes no diagnoses and replaces no medical judgement.

Where is the data processed?

Exclusively on servers within the European Union. Before the first conversation we sign a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR. Data is never shared or sold.

Who decides who takes part?

The home decides whether and in which rooms Anu is used. Whether someone takes part is decided by the resident, or by the person who represents them legally. A no applies at any time.

How does a pilot work?

A 30-minute intro call, choosing five to ten residents together, eight weeks of trial operation and a joint review. Then you decide.

What does a pilot cost?

We discuss the terms of a pilot in the intro call, together with whether funding under section 8(8) of the German SGB XI may apply.

How much work is it for our staff?

We set up and install the device. Your team needs just two appointments: choosing the participants at the start and the joint evaluation at the end.

Is there funding?

Care homes in Germany can apply for funding for digital applications under § 8 (8) SGB XI. Whether this applies to Anu is something we are happy to clarify in the intro call.

Do you run a care home?

Let us talk.

A 30-minute intro call, then an eight-week pilot that we set up, with no extra work for your team. Relatives are just as welcome to write here.
